Overview of the Luxor Museum

A luxurious Nile river cruise offers a wonderful opportunity to visit the stunning Luxor Museum, which is situated in Luxor on the East Bank of the Nile River. To be more precise, it is situated precisely between Karnak Temple in the North and Luxor Temple in the South. An array of artifacts from the Mamluk era of the Old Kingdom can be found at this archaeological site.

It is about 55 meters long and 29 meters wide, and it was built to face the Nile. It was founded in 1975 and houses a restricted artifact collection from the Egyptian Museum, which is incredibly proud of both its collection and the caliber of its items.

The Luxor Museum’s Description

When the museum first opened in 1975, there wasn’t much to see inside, but the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiques decided to add more antiquities so that it would become a popular tourist destination in the lovely city of Luxor. The museum’s location features a sizable garden with numerous sculptures and lovely antiques from the time of the pharaohs. You will enter the huge hall, which has two levels and spiral tunnels connecting them, after passing through the large glass doors.

The museum has a dynamic atmosphere that sets it apart from other old, traditional museums thanks to its spiraling hallways. Wonderful Egyptian sculptures may be found on the museum’s first level, including a magnificent statue of Sobek, the crocodile god, guarding an Amenhotep III monument in Kom Ombo Temple. The remaining walls of the temple of Amenhotep IV are also present, along with some colorful coffins. Visits to the Luxor Museum and other Luxor tourist attractions should be part of your Egypt tour.
