The Egyptian Mythology Osiris Story

He was Egypt’s king; he chose the ideal locations for trees to grow and for water to flow, and he built the fertile Nile region to meet the requirements of the populace. By maintaining everything in perfect harmony and balance in accordance with the Ma’at precepts, he honored his brothers and father (goddess of harmony). His brother Set decided that his brother must die because he was jealous of his prosperity, power, and glory. In his celebration, Set made a stunning chest that would be handed to the person who fits in it the best, but the chest was made to exactly fit Osiris. So when Osiris got inside the chest, set slammed the coffin tight in which Osiris suffocated and his coffin was thrown into the Nile.

Isis didn’t think her husband had died, so she began looking for him. After discovering the coffin and bringing it back to Egypt, she made the decision to use magical potions to resurrect her husband while leaving her sister and setting wife Nephthys in charge of protecting the location where she hid the body. Through Nephthys and the cutting of Osiris’ body into forty-two pieces, Set was able to determine the location of his body. When Isis learned that Osiris had been dismembered, she was saddened. Her sister felt bad and made a promise to her that they would find all of the pieces and revive Osiris. Osiris was resurrected once all the pieces were put in place, but he was still lacking something, so he went down to the underworld to become the just judge of the dead land. However, Isis was able to give birth to his kid known as “Horus” before Osiris descended (God of the Sky). Horus was raised in secrecy by his mother in order to keep him safe from his evil uncle Set. Horus had a very difficult childhood because he was constantly attacked by animals and other strange creatures sent by Set, but he was always healed by his mother Isis, the embodiment of maternal devotion and healing magic.

When Horus reached adulthood, he made the decision to contend with his dynasty for control of the realm. Set managed to steal one of Horus’s eyes during their eighty-year struggle, but it had little effect because Set was ultimately vanquished by Horus and exiled to the deserts. The gods acknowledged Horus as Osiris’ legitimate heir to Egypt, and under his rule, with the assistance of his mother Isis and aunt Nephthys, peace and prosperity were once more experienced in that nation.
