Abydos tours: the Temple of Seti I
Abydos, about 2.5 to 3 hours north of Luxor by road, is one of the most sacred sites of ancient Egypt, associated with the god Osiris. The Temple of Seti I has some of the finest painted reliefs in the country and the Abydos King List, a carved list of pharaohs that historians still use. Behind it lies the mysterious Osireion.
Abydos is usually visited together with the Temple of Hathor at Dendera on a full day from Luxor, or as part of a 2- or 3-day Luxor package.
