Hurghada

Along Egypt’s Red Sea coast, Hurghada is a beach tourist city that stretches for around 40 kilometers. It is well-known for scuba diving, and its contemporary Sekalla district is home to a large number of dive shops and schools. While the old town, El Dahar, is home to authentic Egyptian coffee shops and souks, there are numerous restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs there as well. Hurghada is the largest resort on Egypt's Red Sea coast and the most convenient beach base for visiting the Nile Valley. From here you can snorkel and dive the reefs around the Giftun islands, ride quads into the Eastern Desert, or take long day trips to Luxor (about 4 hours by road) and Cairo (by road or a short flight).
