Giza tours: the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum

Giza, on Cairo's western edge, is home to the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and the valley temple of Khafre. The Grand Egyptian Museum stands a short drive from the plateau. Most visitors combine Giza with Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur for the older pyramids, or with the Egyptian Museum and the bazaar.

Go early: the plateau opens in the morning and the light and crowds are best in the first two hours. Camel and horse rides are available near the panorama point; agree the price before you ride, or book a tour that includes it.
