Egypt Travel Guide in brief: Egypt’s highlights sit along the Nile. Most first trips cover Cairo and Giza (pyramids, Sphinx, Grand Egyptian Museum), Luxor (Karnak, Valley of the Kings, balloon rides), Aswan and Abu Simbel, and often a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan. The best season is October to April. Allow 7 to 10 days for the classic route. This guide is written by the licensed Egyptologists at Dr Mo Tours, a Luxor-based travel agency running private tours since 2007.

Egypt Travel FAQ
When is the best time to visit Egypt?
October to April. Days are warm and dry, ideal for temples and cruises. June to August is very hot in Luxor and Aswan (often above 40°C), so start sightseeing at sunrise.
How many days do I need in Egypt?
7 to 10 days covers Cairo, Giza, Luxor and Aswan with a 3 or 4 night Nile cruise. Five days is enough for Cairo plus Luxor. Add 3 to 4 days for the Red Sea.
Is Egypt safe for tourists?
The main tourist areas (Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, the Red Sea resorts) receive millions of visitors a year. Travelling with a licensed guide and private driver removes most hassle. Check your government’s latest travel advice before booking.
Do I need a guide in Egypt?
Not by law, but temples and tombs have little on-site explanation. A licensed Egyptologist reads the hieroglyphs with you, handles tickets and timing, and avoids the crowds.
