At 8:00 am Drive 120 K/M south of Alexandria to the Wadi El Natrun desert region, which is the genuine birthplace of Christian monasticism, after being picked up from your accommodation by our knowledgeable, licensed tour guide.
In total, there were roughly 50 monasteries, but only 4 have persisted till the present. Start your journey in the oldest and, in many respects, most remote of the four still-existing monasteries, Deir al-Paramus. Then, move on to Deir Anba Bishoi, whose body is still present in the monastery.
Continue on your trip to Deir Abu Maqar, which is the richest monastery currently in Wadi El-Natrun due to the 600 laborers employed on the vast farm that spreads in front of it and the presence of more than 100 monks.
The smallest and most compact of the four monasteries, Deir El-Suryani, is where your journey will come to a close. When you arrive back in Alexandria, you can stop for pictures at the Alexandria Library and the Qaitbay Citadel.
