The greatest kings and queens of Egypt’s new monarchy used the Valley of the Kings as a gateway to paradise (1570-1070 BC). Ramses II, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and Tutankhamun’s bones are among the 63 tombs in the valley that are home to remarkable antiques, statues, treasures, and decorations. In 1979, UNESCO designated the Valley of the Kings as a World Heritage site.

The Hatshepsut Temple, which dates back to 1479 BC, is a vision of the paradise known as Djeser-Djeseru, or “Holy of Holies,” and it represents idealism, allure, and power for one of the most successful pharaohs in Egyptian history, Queen Hatshepsut. It was made in homage to Hatshepsut’s outstanding heritage and to the creator deity Amun. Based on the new kingdom’s Classical Architecture, the temple’s architecture is hypnotizingly beautiful.

The Colossi of Memnon are two pieces of quartzite sandstone that are each 720 tonnes in weight and stand 18 meters (60 feet) tall, resembling Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386–1350), who traveled from Cairo to Luxor to serve as the city’s defender. The colossi were damaged by an earthquake in 27 BC, rebuilt in 199 AD, and made renowned by the Vocal Memnon phenomena in the Greco-Roman era.
