Luxor to Cairo is about 650 km and takes 9 to 10 hours with rest stops, using either the Nile valley desert road or the Red Sea road via Hurghada. It is a long day, so we start early. For most travellers the one-hour flight is faster; the road option is best when you want to stop at Dendera, Abydos or Amarna along the way, which we can add with a guide.
