Day 04: Fly to Luxor, Karnak Temples and Valley of the Kings
The fourth day of your Nile cruise from Cairo to Dahabiya will start with a drive from your accommodation to the airport for your quick flight to Luxor.
Once more, when you land in Luxor, your Egyptologist tour guide and a driver will be waiting to take you to the majestic Karnak Temple complex, the largest temple complex ever constructed.
The ancient name for this temple is I Put-it, which translates to “The Most Sacred of Places.” It took more than two thousand years to create the complex of temples known as Karnak. Pharaohs built the complex from generation to generation. A veritable forest of enormous pillars may be found in the Hypostyle Hall, the first stop on the temple’s comprehensive tour.
Before continuing to the Valley of the Kings, have a relaxed lunch at a nearby restaurant. The valley is home to a large number of spectacular tombs that have been deeply carved into the rock and are stocked with valuables and elaborate decorations for the pharaohs to utilize in the afterlife.
The majestic temple at El Deir El Bahary, constructed for Queen Hatshepsut, is a fitting way to end this day of exploration. She was the sole female pharaoh, and her temple rises in a series of terraces from the plain before blending into the surrounding limestone cliffs. After that, you will go to Esna, where your Dahabiya riverboat will be waiting for you.
